Lincoln Canoe Club 3 Mile K4 Challenge

11 of our juniors turned out for the annual K4 challenge this Saturday. This did mean we only had 2 competitive boats but everyone took part with thanks going to Paul Banfield for filling the spare seat to get the 3rd boat out.

The crews were decided upon and after some brief discussions, the seats decided.

In boat 1, Lewis Andrews took the front seat, Conor Simmons in 2, Sophia Fernandez in 3 and Louis Greenwood in the back seat.

In boat 2, Alexander Riley took the front seat, Louis Brierton in 2, Izzy Fernandez in 3 and Millie Pepper in the back.

Christina Vassiliades and Agnes and Esmerelda Kokina were also present but unfortunately without the 4th seat filled were unable to take the start line instead using their escort duties as a training run.

From the start, boat 1 looked in sync and took an early lead. Unfortunately boat 2 was a little less happy and required an unwanted pitstop to change seats 1&3. The remainder of the race was largely uneventful but after boat 1 came home comfortably in front, boat 2, with some very mature encouragement from Izzy, recovered to complete the course.

Thanks to Shelly for organising the event and to Kyle, Theo and Paul for their safety support. Assistance from the parents present was also greatly appreciated in handling the boats and helping the launching process.
